As Albert Einstein said “Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results.” Due to the CI field hierarchy, the United States Army paradigm and the overall unwillingness to be open minded to innovative ideas, I identified Live Environment Training (LET), layers of bureaucracy, and lack of trust as the three major issues that may still plague the CI field for many years to come. It is imperative to address these issues and find innovative methods in order to impact the CI field whether the regulations are follow to the letter, or allow the CI field to be “Special Agents” or “Federal Agents” as mandated in the Army Regulations Department of Defense directives, and executive order. The LET program needs to be revamped immediately in all 902D Military Intelligence (MI) Group (GRP) Field Offices (FO) with the intention to have more skilled CI Agents. The LET program itself is a great program if implemented to its capabilities. For CI Agents, assigned to units who mismanage their organic CI Agent due to their lack of knowledge, LET program a viable option. “CI agent candidates with an approved ascension packet assigned to a unit who desires training in strategic CI duties not available to them at their tactical unit of assignment” – Maita. “Live Environment Training affords the opportunity to maintain the skills critical to CI Agents supported unit through an operational venue…
