This is a tradition of commemorating the death of Imam Hussain, grandson of Prophet Muhammad. Every year on the day of Ashura, the people of certain community beat themselves with chained blades in the street as Imam Hussain was martyred on that day. They pay their respects to Imam Hussain with the flowing of their blood. I do respect the religion Islam and Imam Hussain as well. But this tradition of flowing blood is meaningless. This is not the way to show respect. This superstition should be erased from those communities to stop this tradition of flowing blood. Different religions have different rules and regulations.
