Unlike the Language we learn in school, music is a special type of language that can be use as a type of communication tool. Jazz is origin from African American and its main characteristics are swing and syncopation, improvisation, distinctive voices bent notes and modes. I’ve watched an amazing concert for the Jazz term paper. The title of the Live Jazz Concert is “Brian Culbertson feat Michael Lington” As the Piano and the Trombone player, Brian Culbertson is one of the main performer that caught my attention as an audience. Not surprising at all, I’ve done some research toward him. Brian Culbertson was born Decatur, Illinois. He started playing piano at the age of 8, drums at 9, trombone at 10, bass in 7th grade. I think most people are like me are these ages, playing around everyday after school and not worry a thing. Musician needs to have talents, but more importantly, practice it often and spend lots of time on it’s work. The second Musician I want to talk about would be Michael Lington during the live Jazz Concert. Michael Lington is the Sax player. He is a Danish- American contemporary Saxophonist , producer, songwriter, recording artist and a purveyor of soul and contemporary Jazz. I personally love the way how the concert went, even though I’m not in the actual performance, but I still felt how excited the audiences was during the concert. During the Concert the music was played very soft and it did not have anything like the big band or African influence…
Throughout the story, Kavangah tells multiple stories about parents dropping their troubled teens off at hospitals and leaving. Parents are leaving their children of ages, but no infants which is what the law was created for in the first place. Governor Dave Heineman states, “Safe haven laws were not designed to allow families to having difficulty with older youth and teenagers to abandon their child or responsibilities as a parent” (Heineman 1). Parents need another way to cope with their…
Offspring, Nofx and so many others were influenced by them”. Is what Tony Sly (lead singer) from the No Use For A Name band said. Karan (Rockers reflect on the legacy of Kurt Cobain). Showing that before Kurt Cobain entered the industry the biggest bands today wasn 't relevant at the time. Kurt 's career was a success. He and his band sold over 30 million copies of one of the best work Nirvana ever (Nevermind) released. Kurt and his group released their first single “Love Buzz” which was also…

In A child called “it”, Dave Pelzer states “Childhood should be carefree, playing in the sun; not living a nightmare in the darkness of the soul.” (Pelzer, 1995, pg.98) As he reminisces on the traumatic and horrific childhood experiences, he was forced to partake in the hands of his abusive mother. Dave Pelzer is a survivor of one of the worst child maltreatment cases in the history of California. The “Pelzer” family lived in Daly City, California. Dave’s father, Stephen Joseph supported the…
I believe that the book Zeitoun is an accurate story. It is very useful in bringing out what the main character, Abdulrahman Zeitoun did in New Orleans to survive the massive storm, Hurricane Katrina. It talked about how he was stranded there and showed us what his daily life was like. He encountered many problems of saving his own life, but also the lives of others stranded in New Orleans. There are a total of five parts in Zeitoun, but each part doesn't really fit with the part before it.…
Coraline by Neil Gaiman is about a young girl named Coraline Jones discovering a door to her other life, other parents, and other struggles.I believe this book was excellent because the author Neil Gaiman, really went into detail about Coraline as a character. He wrote about her surroundings and the new things she discovers behind the door often describing every step she takes.Coraline Jones does not narrate the story but oddly enough, her thoughts and feelings are the only one’s shared…
Imagine a world of transparency. Each human would have full access to every minuscule detail of another person’s life, from looking up their medical issues online, to watching a live stream of every single move they make. It is terrifying to imagine a society in which nothing is kept personal, and as the inherent nature of technology continues to progress, this threat will only become more of a reality. Dave Eggers illustrates this pseudo-utopian world in his novel, The Circle, where his…
Isaac Slade, Joe King, Ben Wysocki, and Dave Welsh make up the popular rock/ pop band The Fray. With their first album, How to Save a Life, this band appeared on everyone’s radar. Eight months after the release of The Fray’s second album, the band released a music video for “You Found Me.” This song could have several meanings depending on different points of views. Many interpretations of the lyrics in this song…
