The Darfur Conflict is a guerrilla conflict or ongoing civil war in the area of the Darfur region of Sudan. It began in February 2003 when the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) and the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) groups in Darfur took up arms, accusing the Sudanese government of oppressing or committing genocide against black Africans in favor of Arabs. It has been going on since 2003. Religious, ethnic, and economic differences have caused conflict in Sudan for years. First off the militia group used the classification the Janjaweed.
