In the poem “Dear White America” by Danez Smith, Smith uses the biblical allusion “the fate of Lazarus” to refer to Lazarus, a man who had his life restored by Jesus four days after his initial death. This is most likely used to refer to how much he wishes all of his friends and family who have died would be resurrected.
