Mert Zhang Bozbey Aspen Anderson HIST-1700 4/7/16 On this paper I’ll start with my grandparents’ life which I consider the start of my personal history. I’ll point on how my own family and our life in Turkey has been affected by the events in the United States history and Turkey’s relationship with United States. Turkey's relationship with the United States began right before the cold war. In 1947, United States Congress started to give Turkey economic and military assistance. Because…
After their arrival in Cyprus, Iago Manipulates Cassio in a systematic manner using his drinking problem and then his effort to get back his position after being stripped of the Lieutenancy. Has there ever been a time you betrayed someone so close to you for a selfish reason? For many this eventually occurs and especially in relationships when people cheat or break up with each other. In Shakespeare`s Othello and Aphra Behn`s Oroonoko we see a central theme of betrayal in both of their plays. Shakespeare and Behn`s make their characters mischievous, and the language they use represents each character well. Shakespeare chooses to make his antagonist cause the downfall of the…

Heavy tension on race can be observed in both the play and the movie. Othello is a black man who is the head of the army and is known for his bravery and powerful skill in war, Odin is the star and only black basketball player on his high school team and whole high school. Although the racial undertone is shown more in the movie than it is in the play, it does show that Othello/Odin is seen as different and as an outsider by the rest of the community. Iago/Hugo are jealous of his success and…

In Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello, the title character is a 16th century Moorish general of the Venetian army who, because of the cultural and historical background of the play’s setting, the playwright, and the original intended audience, is portrayed as both well-respected for his stereotypical military prowess and disparaged for his race. Similarly, because of Othello ability to fulfill the desires of the Venetian people they loved and adored him. It was not until they gained perspective into…
Customarily, these types of bankruptcy settlement deals don’t result in a payment of 100 cents on the dollar. Instead, the recipient “takes a haircut” by accepting a very small settlement. For example, Eric Dinallo negotiated a similar settlement of credit default swaps when he was the Insurance Superintendent for the state of New York. At his behest, Merrill Lynch settled a case for only 13 cents on the dollar from a company “XL Guarantee.” Although, this time around, Merrill Lynch received…
