When I was notified of the inadvertent ethical violation, I was mortified. Not because of any consequence necessarily, but because of the mere idea that my integrity or moral beliefs would be questioned. I did not mean to imply that those ideas belonged to anyone besides who I cited, albeit incorrectly. I could not believe that I allowed myself to make such a simple but catastrophic mistake.
