As a new geologist who has come on to the Sutherland organization a few months ago, I have been honored to work alongside enthusiastic colleagues. I have studied at the prestigious school of Du Page and have trained toward geological studies for about two and a half years. In my courses, we have explored the Earth’s crust and focused on various geological features of the world. All of these credentials make me qualified to present my observations for the best place for house construction for the…

Lee A. Jacobus describes Plato’s allegory of the cave as “a story in which the characters and situations actually represent people and situations in another context (448).” Plato’s work is written as a conversation between himself and Socrates. The story describes prisoners in a cave, who have only seen what their captors let them. These captors, or “people with gear,” cast shadows on the walls, which the prisoners interpret as reality. Later, they set one of the prisoners free. After leaving,…
Though, close in distance, Sailor Rock was much harder for Greg to get to from the north side, rather than the dirt road they had always used from the west. Limping uphill on one leg with a crutch and maneuvering through rocky and uneven ground, was difficult enough, until he had to pick his way through the prickly bushes and small trees where the ground leveled near its base. Since he couldn’t go very far without elevating his leg, it took him two full days to finally get there. The wild plums…
will discuss important things. We will talk about how should use the footwork to maintain the same speed as the rock being thrown. Also we will remind them that their feet should never cross over the should just be demonstrating a simple shuffle step along the side of a rock. We will also remind the students that it is important to remember that they should never interfere with the rock itself, they should never kick it or touch it with their brooms. After we have demonstrated the shuffle step…
something the size of a watermelon. It was also weird taking a shower because the doctor said it could get wet but I couldn't trust him. At school people all wanted to know what happened, I thought it was embarrassing telling people that I fell over a rock so I just told them that my brother pushed me really hard. It had gotten filled with signatures. All the signatures came from my school and of course my mom wanted to sign it too. What I learned from the story is the i need to pay more…
“How Did Lightning Kill More Than 300 Reindeer?”, written on the New York Times website, discusses the cause of death of 323 reindeer in Norway. According to the article, a lightning bolt struck the hillside on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. The electrical current traveled 250 feet in diameter from the striking point, leading to the death of the reindeer via electrocution and cardiac arrest. When looking at pictures of the scene, people were suspicious that over 300 hundred reindeer…
or intruded country rock with different igneous compositions. These compositions ranged from alkaline to mafic to rhyolitic based on their interactions as they made their way to the surface with country rock. Mafic magma interacts well with host rock while rhyolitic magma does not due to its high viscosity.…
Liberty Hill pluton of South Carolina is one of twenty-four known granitoid bodies along the southern Appalachian Piedmont which possess the properties of a supergroup as described by Pitcher. The country rocks surrounding the plutons are at least mid-Paleozoic in age. Liberty Hill lies within country rocks of the Carolina Slate belt which consists of “primarily intermediate to felsic pyroclastic debris and hypabyssal intrusive bodies.” (Speer et al. 1980). The isotopic ages of metamorphism…
clothes are made and who makes it is simple enough, but would we as a society ever have thought that the people that make them for us live in extremely poor conditions? Children and Developing Countries are heavily impacted by globalization because they are the easiest to change and be altered due to outside countries views. Children, out of all age groups, are the easiest to influence into a certain way of thinking. This is why kids are schooled at a young age, because this information has a…
