    Fate is an often debated topic. There are many questions that are often asked when talking about fate. There are three questions I will be answering based on Sophie’s World : “Do you believe in Fate?, Is sickness the punishment of the gods?, What forces govern the course of history?” Some other major themes are the purpose of history, Hegel’s view on history, religion, and just an overall summary of the novel. The first question is “Do you believe in fate?” Many people believe in fate such as, the Greeks, the Nordic, the Norwegians, and many other people. They believe that there are somethings or someone controlling the course of history. According to the novel, “Fatalism is the belief that whatever happens is predestined. We find this belief all over the world, not only throughout history but in our own day as well”(54). Fate is believed worldwide and there are a lot of different ways to believe fate.
