The UT Dallas School of Arts and Humanities presented a concert at the Jonsson Performance Hall titled “A Renaissance Faire.” They held showings October 28th & 29th from 8 PM to 9:30 PM. The show featured the UT Dallas Chamber Singers and students from Advanced Vocal Instruction. I attended the Golden State Women’s Choir Competition at the Lafayette-Orinda Presbyterian Church on March 4th, 2017. There, I watched the Advanced Treble Choir from Marin High School perform, directed by Stevie Greenwell. I enjoyed the concert very much. The songs selected were all very different. “Selene’s Boat” was very soft and the choir stayed very still throughout the song. “Ave Maris Stella” was a required piece, but the choir did it well. On the evening of February 21, 2018, I attended a Jamey Aebersold live jazz concert featuring Howard Levy and Chris Siebol at the music building at UIC. On April 29, 2016, Spencer Giles watched the NWFSC Fine Arts HONORS Recital at the Tyler Recital Hall. The Tyler Recital Hall is at the Northwest Florida State College. The event was of free admission and the doors of the concert closed at 3:00 pm. There were seventeen students at the Recital. There were nineteen performances at the Recital. The first performance was by Hunter Brake, who performed Bolt by Kirk Gay. Brake played Bolt on the Tympani. Brake started the song fast and ended it slow.…

I thoroughly enjoyed observing Dr. Silveira conduct and lead the IC Concert Band in rehearsal today. Dr. Silveira led a very efficient rehearsal that resulted in a lot of playing by the ensemble, and significant improvement. At the beginning of the rehearsal, I noticed that flutes, clarinets and saxophones were there. I discovered later that this was because they were given sectional time while Dr. Silveira worked with the rest of the ensemble for a portion of the rehearsal. This allowed him to…

Concerts have always been a way for the general public to experience their favorite artists and musicians perform right in front of them. I myself have been to several concerts, all of which have been rap and hip hop concerts. So going to an orchestral concert was going to be a very different experience to me. This Stony Brook University performance was the first time I was exposed to any performance, so throughout the concert, there were many things that stuck out to me.
