On Wednesday, 9/7/16, UNCW held its ‘Concert on the Commons Series. I had the opportunity to enjoy this event during my lunch break between classes at the fisher center. I attended the Queens College Orchestra in the LeFrak Concert Hall on October 26th, 2016. I went to the concert hold by Nocturne- a two years old club in Denver, and the Keith Oxman Quartet did a remarkable concert that night. The Keith Oxman Quartet is a Jazz band lead by Keith Oxman on tenor saxophone, and has Derek Banach on trumpet, Todd Reid on drums, and Jeff Jenkins on organ. Additionally, Jenkins was playing keyboard on April 21st. The Keith Oxman Quartet plays at Nocturne every Friday night between March 10th and April 28th. At the concert, I was a perspective listener. The perspective listener is a combination of all of the listener types. A perspective listener enjoys the sound of the music but is also critically aware of how it makes them feel and why and it also makes associations with the music whether it being from a feeling or a memory. On Sunday, October 30th, I attended a live performance by the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jacek Kaspszyk as a part of their 2016 U.S. tour.
