The concert band just played in the winter concert earlier this month and all of you that didn’t get to go to the concert missed out on our band playing great music. The band and the director practiced endlessly to perfect their music and make it sound excellent. The phoenix high school band and choir performed a variety of songs with the theme of the current holidays which is chrismas. They have a variety of members to individual students to different levels of band like, concert band, jazz band, and the marching band. The University Jazz Combos concert did not focus on formality the way I originally believed it would. Instead of walking into a concert hall to see the performers dressed in black, already set up, and just finishing tuning there was a shocking amount of color, styles of dress, and a flurry of movement. On April 19, 2016 I attend a Concert Band and Chorus presented by Palm Beach State college music department. At the concert that I attended, a small orchestra called the Watauga Community Band performed in the Rosen Concert Hall on campus. The concert hall was relatively small, and the lights were left on for the audience. This made the atmosphere feel more informal and welcoming. Experiencing a concert live is breath taking because it comes to realization how much work the artist has put into the music and choreography. Listening to the album is based off of visuals in your head as of what is going on in the song, or how the story is being played out. At 7:30 in the evening on Tuesday, October 4th, the Northern Michigan University music department’s Jazz band held a concert at Reynolds Recital Hall on campus. The event that I attended was the fall concert by “The Dalton State Singers” that was held on the main campus of Dalton State College in the Goodroe Auditorium in Gignilliat Memorial Hall. It was a concert in which singers performed songs and the music director played the piano. Since the concert was held in the auditorium the sound was evenly distributed for everyone to enjoy.
