The Migrating Motion dance concert was extraordinary to watch in terms of analyzing the movements and positions that these dancers utilized throughout their performances. Everything was perfectly choreographed and corresponded with the appropriate song. For example, whenever there was a heartbeat tune, the dancers would motion their bodies to be in perfect sync with the sound. Additionally, with respect to the heart beat tune, the lighting was dim except for the dancers in the middle of the…

The Fall Dance Festival took place at the Texas Tech Maedgen Lab theatre on November 18, 2016 at 7:30 pm. I watched the ladies dance while listening to the music. The music did not sound exactly the same to me as it did to other members who were able to hear. I was late and did not catch a seat in the center of the theatre, which is the seating I prefer because it allows me to hear between my left and right side of hearing. I had to sit on the right side of the auditorium instead. The place…

Opening night, the dancers that performed in the University Dance Theatre production, had talent, agility, and graceful movements. The concert had a variety of dance genres, visual appeal, and emotions that each piece and the show overall represented. Humor, drama, and serenity were not emotions I thought I would receive while watching these dances. One thing I did not realize would make many of the pieces was how crucial and reliant lighting and graphics were necessary to make the piece more…

When I first came to class, it was truly frightening getting in front of people to move my body like I have never moved it before. Even the dance move to the number of syllables to our names was way scarier than it should have been. The amount of growth that I have personally made, and that everyone else has made is tremendous. Moving was much harder, much less fluid than it was at the end of the semester. The more and more that we practiced movements, such as the partner touch and blind…

On December 2nd, 2016 at the Constance theatre the dance department presented a show called Agbedidi. The show, directed and choreographed by Mohamed DaCosta and Trent D. Williams, Jr., displayed a combination of Traditional African and Contemporary Dance. The house buzzed with excitement as the start of the show approached. It is quite encouraged to see such a large audience at an event, but this audience also brought a positive, vibrant atmosphere for the dancers to soak up. I was curious to…

and perfecting transitions. Dozens of individual dancers moving in unison as a unit, a family, showcasing our legacy. Twenty years worth of sweat, sacrifice, and vulnerability will be displayed on stage tonight. This was not my first performance or concert, but none were this monumental. The twentieth anniversary of Hypersquad. As the sun begins to set the sky ablaze in shades of red, orange, and yellow, showtime creeps closer and closer like a turtle, slow and steady. We all prepare in our own…

groups. There were several dance performances, pool parties, dance workshops, dance class instructors and different type of vendors selling various things such as clothing, food, and musical cds. There were three days of full events. The prices varied from twenty to two hundred dollars with an option of buying an all-day pass. However, I decided to watch one performance and attend a dance workshop that taught salsa. Today, salsa remains the most widespread style of dance music in many…

have words, but experience. Experience through such things as dance that evoke and create energetic environments through movements, music, and others. Though this is not always the case, it was at the Dionysios Dancer’s charitable performance of the Pentozali at the Greek Orthodox Church located in Salt Lake City, Utah. In which I was surprisingly entertained and intrigued by the culture and experience within the dancing. During the dance Pentozali, I observed the male dancers of Dionysios begin…
