Houston to see the concert on September 24th. This was the first concert I had ever attended, so I have a good memory of the event. It was quite a wonderful experience seeing one of my favorite R&B artist preform live in such an amazing venue. The concert was at the Bayou Music Center in Houston, Texas. The venue could hold around 5000 people, and had both standing and sitting room. There was approximately 3000 standing tickets and 2000 seating tickets available for the concert. I was surprised…
The University Jazz Combos concert did not focus on formality the way I originally believed it would. Instead of walking into a concert hall to see the performers dressed in black, already set up, and just finishing tuning there was a shocking amount of color, styles of dress, and a flurry of movement. My experience from the last concert lead me to believe that a recital would be just as formal and put together as a symphony performance. In fact, the entire atmosphere of the recital hall was…
The event that I attended was the fall concert by “The Dalton State Singers” that was held on the main campus of Dalton State College in the Goodroe Auditorium in Gignilliat Memorial Hall. It was a concert in which singers performed songs and the music director played the piano. Since the concert was held in the auditorium the sound was evenly distributed for everyone to enjoy. The concert was very organized which lead to a pleasurable experience. The singers performed (Shenandoah, When I Fall…
believe the general environment of the location in which this concert took place contributed to the vibe of the music. It took at Railroad Square because First Friday is a monthly event to give culture exposure to small local businesses and artists; drawing people in just to have a good time continues to expand the cultural experience for Tallahassee citizens. Everyone in the audience, whether they planned to stay and watch this band or whether they happened to be walking by and drawn in by the…
person who influenced him to play the bass guitar was “Les Clay Pool,” from the band called “Primus”. His first performance was when he was 19 years old. He played with his very first band named (IN) which was a punk rock band. They performed at a bar named the “Token Lounge,” which is located in Westland, MI. During his time as a musician he’s played many shows. His favorite gigs to play are outdoor festivals. The band he plays bass guitar for now, called the “BEGGARS,” plays Rock & Roll. For…
time but leaned towards rock bands. Growing up in the Seattle area, she enjoyed listening to bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam because of their local connection. She said that as a teenager she didn 't listen to as much music as her peers but still enjoyed listening to the music on the radio and her cassette player! I then asked, what was your favorite concert that you have ever attended? She told me she had attended a few concerts in college. Her favorite concert she attended was U2 at the…
9/7/16, UNCW held its ‘Concert on the Commons Series. I had the opportunity to enjoy this event during my lunch break between classes at the fisher center. The ‘Naughty Feats’ were preforming down at the amphitheater. During most of the concerts they sung covers and towards the middle of the concert they began to show some of their original works. They were pretty enjoyable. I am not certain if they were a well know small local band or if they were just a student band that formed on campus but…
In high school, I remember where my biggest dream changed into a reality. I was a member of the Greenville High School Tiger Pride Marching Band. I played the alto saxophone. Unlike my bandmates, I did not know how to read music then. I played by ear, and whatever scale, jazz run, or chromatic I heard, I could play it back just like that. I played at numerous of black history programs and different events at school. My favorite saxophonist was Kenneth Williams, and I told myself that I want to…
The UT Dallas School of Arts and Humanities presented a concert at the Jonsson Performance Hall titled “A Renaissance Faire.” They held showings October 28th & 29th from 8 PM to 9:30 PM. The show featured the UT Dallas Chamber Singers and students from Advanced Vocal Instruction. The concert singers preformed mainly a cappella, but they were also accompanied by accompanist Michael McVay, who played an electronic piano modified to sound like a lute. Kathryn Evans, the conductor, also accompanied…
I attended the Stones River Chamber Players on February 29th. This was played in the Hilton Music Hall. When I was going in I did not know what to expect because I have never been to a music concert on the MTSU campus. There were around 60-70 people who attended this concert. Most of the individuals who attended were more than likely there for a class because more than half were students who did not understand the concept of staying off of their phone. When the three performers came out they…
