Australian Rail Track Corporation LTD 2005 define a railway ballast as; free draining coarse aggregate or metallurgical slag used to support railway tracks. It is recommended that ballast should be “hard durable and as far as possible angular along edges/corners, free from weathered portions of parent rock, organic impurities and inorganic residues” (Reference) Rocks which contain minerals which are deemed harmful to the longevity and behaviour of the ballasts may be rejected following petrographic or durability testing.
Shape and size
It is recommended that ballast material be as cubical in shape as possible, and that percentage of retained irregular grans not exceed 30% when ballast material is tested using the 9.50mm test sieve.
Sieve size (mm) % passing by mass
Particle size distribution (Australian Rail Track Corporation LTD 2005)
The proportion of flaky particles in the ballast material retained on the 6.70mm test sieve shall not exceed 30%
The percentage of weak particles when tested shall not exceed 5%
The wet attrition value of the ballast material for the fraction of material passing the 53.0 mm test sieve and retained on 37.5 mm test sieve should not exceed 6%
If the ballast material is sourced from metallurgical slag the electrical resistance should demonstrate, in track, a minimum resistance of 1.5 ohms per km
Delivery and Handling
Prepared ballast shall be…
On September 8th, 2017 in the small city Altoona, Iowa, it was a very dark and rainy night when Liam and Quinn were just getting ready to go home from a long stressful day of working at Cinemark when they both realized that the whale was completely overflowing with trash from that night. Quinn was one of the crew leaders of the ushers at Cinemark but she wasn’t old enough to take out the trash to the compactor to load and start it, luckily for Quinn, Liam was old enough to take it out. When…
Topic: Should Teens be Paid Less than Adults?
Answer: Although a lot of people may not agree with my opinion, I believe it is fair to pay teens less than Adults. Most every job requires some sort of experience, whether it’s being able to do simple math, or being able to con people into buying junk they don’t need. Teens fresh into the work force typically don’t have those skills. Bob Battles supports this by stating, “Plus, your average teen doesn’t have the same skills that a worker in, say,…
chants “nitwit, nitwit, nitwit,” prompting Haňtá to begin referring to himself as the “little...nitwit” (72). Haňtá’s boss has clearly revealed a deep insecurity of Haňtá’s. Fueled by a desire to prove himself as worthy competition to the Bubny men, Haňtá refuses to succumb to the allure of the books and ravenously guzzles milk only to be disappointed when he finds that his efforts have been to no avail as his boss has already written a letter suggesting that the higher-uppers “do with [Haňtá]…
Submarine waste can range in many different aspects. Cardboard can be stored on board due to less weight; as for cans, they have to be added to the waste streams of the submarine. The combined compacted volume of food contaminated plastic and paper is less than 0.01 ft^3, which means this waste can be stored under the Annex V because of the eliminated storage. Submarines prefer to keep storage in food storage due to precautions to bypass contamination of unused supplies, which is needed for the…
Everything has a beginning, middle, and end. For a robot like WALL-E that’s not always the case. WALL-E is rusty, square like robot. He has tank like legs, with eyes that look like binoculars with claws for hands. Throughout this whole film you can see how much WALL-E changes, mostly because of the people around him. I think the one quality I see, that doesn’t change is his curiosity.
It seems that WALL-E follows a day to day routine. Every morning he powers on, gets his little cooler puts it…

added to the test tube. Once the sample water was added one NitraVer 6 reagent was added to the sample and shaken for 3 minutes. After this, the sample was incubated for 30 seconds. At this point the sample was poured into a viewing tube and the test tube was rinse and disposed of. Next, contents of one NitriVer 3 reagent were added to the viewing tube. Once added, the tube was shaken for 30 seconds incubated for another 10 minutes. After the incubation period, a red color appeared, indicating…

choose using landscape pavers.
You will need to dig the area for your project at least a few inches wider than the actual dimensions. Good rule to use is to make it six to twelve inches bigger on any given side. This will allow you room to work, plus it is a lot easier to fill in after your pavers are installed, than it is to correct mistakes as you go.
Dig down at least six times the thickness of the pavers. This will allow each of the two foundation layers to be at least twice the…
