    Every movie has multiple techniques that coordinate with each other in order to bring the meaning of it all together. The movie Creed, directed by Ryan Coogler, is one that uses these techniques quite nicely in order to show the determination of the main character, Adonis Johnson. From the very beginning of the film a big technique that stands out is narrative, which provides the structure of the movie. It begins with an extremely noticeable motif of Adonis Johnson at a juvenile detention, back when he was a child. This motif was placed within the introductory, before fast forwarding the whole plot line a few years later to Adonis being in adulthood. This motif was however super relevant to the rest of the movie, as there are multiple references back to this period of his life. The movie’s main plot is to depict a young man who is trying to make a name of his own as a fighter, while it is difficult to do with his father having been the best fighter to ever exist. The overall narration excludes his father’s life from ever being depicted within the film in order to build on this. There are people whom Adonis Johnson meets along the way in order to tell the tale of his father, yet the producers are careful to not make the father a main character that the audience might get attached to. The exclusion of the father’s life clarifies that Adonis Johnson has made the decision to try and become a successful fighter on his own; however, the inclusion of his father’s name “Creed”…
