Likewise, another person who did something very similar to this is Claudette Colvin. According to npr.org, Claudette, who also lived in Alabama, was on a bus ride on March 2nd, 1955. She was asked to stand up for a white passenger, which she refused to do. “The bus driver ordered her to get up and she refused, saying she would paid her fare and it was her constitutional right,” says npr.org. Claudette Colvin’s bravery showed that she cared about her civil rights and she supported them by defending them, even after knowing she would be arrested for it. She stood up for what she believed in, making her a true hero. According to biography.com, both Rosa Parks and Claudette Colvin had to face being arrested, and started various movements such as the Montgomery bus boycott. Both Rosa Parks and Claudette Colvin faced a challenge, and it was to defend their civil rights or not. Together they chose to defend them and faced consequences, but helped the United States become a better place. Additionally, they were role models for many people and still are. Claudette Colvin and Rosa Parks were just a few of the building blocks which changed America’s civil rights.
