Rikki-tikki-tavi was a smart mongoose in the short story “Rikki-tikki-tavi” written by Rudyard Kipling. When Rikki-tikki-tavi washed up in garden, a family took him in and he found himself defending the garden and the family, from two ruthless snakes. He became to be the savoir of the garden that all animals trusted, through the story he proved to be brave, agile, and heroic. First, Rikki-tikki showed to be brave when he waited out nag in the bathroom so he would only need to know that he had one snake to worry about. When he finally he jumps, he tried to go for the back to break it, to make the fight easy and quick but Nag dodged his stroke and Rikki and Nag went at it like lightning then Rikki got the upper hand and he clamps down on the cobras head and with all the tossing and turning of Nag trying to get free, Rikki would surely …”be banged to death”...(22) but he keeps on fighting. Rikki feeling pleased with taking down the mighty Nag, although he knew the real fight was with Nagaina who was as bad as five Nags. But in the final battle where Rikki is fighting Nagaina he showed true bravery when he followed her into her snake hole for “...few mongooses, however wise and old they may be care to follow a cobra into its hole.” (27). If following a snake into a snake hole doesn't show true bravery i don't know what does. Secondly, he is very agile when fighting and roaming through the garden.
