    Imaginary Adoption I didn’t really look like my parents. My face was just different, and I didn’t realize that was something that wasn’t uncommon, but my sisters looked a lot like my parents. In fact, they looked a lot like each other too, so in old pictures, we really couldn’t tell which was which. I felt like I was different from my family from a behavioral perspective as well. I think that the main reason I thought my personality differed from the rest of my family was because I based my differences on my sisters. My sisters were, and still are in some ways, very similar to my image of the devil incarnate. They were very loud, annoying, and disrespectful. If they didn’t get what they wanted, they whined like a bear that had lost. I great at raising me, but my dad was growing extra grey hair from trying to raise my sisters. I refused to believe I was related to either of them, so over time, the only logical explanation that arose was that I was adopted. My mental capacity had not yet grown enough to think with a good ratio of logic, so my mind replaced logic with imagination. Therefore, I assumed I was adopted, which explained why I was so different from the rest of my family, because I was meant to be different. It really did seem logical when I put the “facts” together. Thinking back on it, assuming I was adopted seemed like an excuse to explain a lot of things. The biggest being the criticisms of my relatives.
