Barely able to open his eyes Lee began to wake up. Although the room was very fuzzy Lee thought that he was waking up from a crazy dream. This is where he tried to get up, thinking he was still in his bed. Not able to get up, Lee finally realized he could not move. As he came to, it was obvious he was not dreaming. Looking up he saw the ceiling of the compound he and his friends had broken into. Lying down flat on his back Lee also saw he was strapped to a table in the lab with restraints on his wrists and ankles. He knew he had a problem because this was just like he had previously seen Cousin Dale laid out like this. The only thing that Lee could move was his head to look back and forth. Feeling he had something on his head he was puzzled. At this point he didn't know what to think. When Lee looked up he saw flashing lights right above his eyes. He remembered the same lights from earlier coming from the machine Cousin Dale wore. Lee knew he had on the same machine that Cousin Dale had on his head. Clear across the room Lee could now hear the squealing voice of Senator McShady talking to Professor Poole. This time though it wasn't Senator McShady on the monitor. He was there in person. Listening to the conversation Lee could tell the senator was furious as he yelled, "I can't believe you. Can you do anything on your own? How could you let a bunch of street kids get into this high tech building?" Trying to figure out what was going on, Lee continued to look around the room.…

My favorite constellation is Pegasus. In the second century, it was listed as a constellation along with forty-seven others by the astronomy Ptolemy. I choose Pegasus because of the mythological legends behind such a magnificent organization of stars. Also, Pegasus particularly interests me because of the near perfect arrangement of four stars in a square: Markab, Scheat, Algenib, and Alpheratz/Sirrah (to use their Arabic names) are the four corners of the square asterism. In Greek mythology,…

If you look to the north, you may find Cepheus looking down on you as he rules the skies with his wife, Cassiopeia, by his side. I chose this constellation because I have seen his name mentioned in relation with Andromeda as I am very interested in Greek mythology. I also thought that a story about a king would be quite interesting. Cepheus is one of the constellations originally listed by the great astronomer, Ptolemy, and now remains as one of the modern constellations. The constellation's…

figures. You, probably have heard of the Big dipper, Little Dipper, Ursa Minor, Ursa Major, and Orion. These are the most well known and popular constellations and asterisms. An asterism is a group of stars that is not a constellation, but is well known by many astronomers. The history of how constellations came to be is amazing. Things including people, the discovery, why they were used, and how the sky was divided are all factors of the history of constellations. Today's current…

Of the 88 official constellations, Orion, the Hunter, would be my absolute favorite for countless reasons. One of these being Orion is associated with specific personality traits that I find very important and some of which I possess myself. The personality linked with this constellation is a very strong and opinionated personality, with a desire to ask questions and understand things. Being a RavenClaw, I love to learn and understand new things and I seem to question everything. I have my own…

Have you ever wondered why the night sky in the winter may look different to you than the night sky in the summer or fall? This is because we see the constellations at different times of the year for the different seasons- spring, summer, fall, and winter. Since the Earth orbits the Sun we do not get one constant area of constellations. The constellations we see in the summer are not the same ones we see in the winter. We never see the same constellation all year long. Unless the constellation…

The constellation I have chosen is found on the celestial equator, and is one of the most recognisable constellations in the world; Orion, named after a hunter in Greek mythology. Orion is made up of seven main stars that make something of an 'hourglass' shape, with four stars making a rectangle-like shape; Betelgeuse and Bellatrix making up his 'shoulders', and Saiph and Rigel making up his 'feet'. This rectangle is then tethered in at the middle by three stars to finish off the hourglass shape…
