This week in the field I had the opportunity to observe a CFTM. The CFTM consisted of a Southern Christian Service (SCS) Family Specialist, the potential foster parents and the MYPAC team (facilitator, therapist and supervisor). This meeting was geared towards revealing the diagnosis of the foster child to the potential foster parents. I have very conflicting feelings about this CFTM, because I feel like we blindsided the foster parents. SCS has been working with this family for over 4 months…
Nigeria for example, actually believe that a menstruation flow that was too thick or too thin is a cause for infertility or that the use of oral contraceptives, especially before ever conceiving could be cause for not being able to have a biological child (Kimani & Olenja, 2001). Adengo and Tebong explain that statistically, 40 to 50 percent of all infertility can be attributed to men and though the numbers are so incredibly high, in many developing countries women are mostly blamed when a…
In the online simulation of My Virtual Life, I made critical decisions throughout a child’s development to ensure healthy motor, cognitive, and social skills. Also through this program, I learned the attitudes and behaviors I expose my child to at the beginning of development will greatly influence the personal attitudes and behaviors expressed by my child in later development. The exposure to the product of certain situations allows me, as a parent, to acquire useful skills I would have not…

The importance of being a mother is practically unending; it is maybe the hardest, most rewarding occupation a woman will ever encounter. Mothers have many roles to help them perform all the tasks required in the development of their children, as well as…
Occasionally, life takes us through unexpected paths. When my son was a three years old, I began to notice that his development did not correspond to his age. My son could not trace straight lines in any direction; he also had difficulties with drawing and holding a crayon. At the beginning, I thought it was normal, but still, as a mother, I started paying more attention, and soon I realized that it was not normal, and I began to worry. I came to the decision to take him to a specialist for…

Feral Children Susan ‘Genie’ Wiley: Born 1957 in Arcadia, California Genie was the victim of one of the most severe cases of neglect and abuse ever to be heard of. For most of her thirteen years of life she was strapped to a children’s potty with her arms and legs immobilised, or locked in a metal cage. Genie was raised in social insolation by her abusive Father, Clark Wiley. Clark lacked natural love as both his parents were not fully involved in his bringing; his Mother ran a brothel and his…
