    The Code Breaker Analysis

Do you believe that the country needs a government that has power over them? Or, are people better off with a government that adjusts to their will? In Michael Petry’s The Code Breaker, the Puppet Master does not believe that the government should hold the power to strictly implement laws and orders that control the people. The Puppet Master makes a solid argument that the government’s power needs to be limited because, left unchecked, government leaders are often corrupted by their own authority and make decisions that are self-serving rather than for the common good. The government mostly uses its power to protect itself from being overthrown. In the Codebreaker, it becomes clear that Secretary of Defense Rutledge cares more about his image than the truth of what happened in Operation Freedom Force. For example, he stated to the citizens and press, “‘I reported to the American people that the operation was a complete success without any civilian casualties’” (Petry 23). However, this is not the case. Operation Freedom Force went downhill as soon as the troops went to the scene, only to notice that only farmers and children were there. The next thing that happened was the bombs that the operation used were launched into that community, and farmers and families died with troops alongside them. This shows the failures as the government lied to the common citizens about what happened so that no major uproar would result, and they would continue to hold the power.…

These musicians do not care about the conventional life of having a job and family, but instead focus on expressing their views in artistic ways through their music. In some cases, music was the only motivation of living for some musicians, especially in areas of unemployment and distress, where young people had very limited opportunities. This was the reason why a stereotype developed, considering musicians depressed and low-life individuals who were not contributing to society. Not bound by…

This is when I joined my first real band with a couple of college kids from my surrounding area. Those next 6 months of my life are to this day, the most important to date. In February of 2007, after months of playing shows on the weekends and practicing every night with my new band, things started to pick up. The band wanted to start touring full time but I was the only member still in school. We also had mention of a record deal coming down the pipeline. I finally said screw it and when I came…

The Classical music performance had an order to it in the way the musicians walk out, sit down and how they played. The crowd would be very respectful and professional while watching the orchestra. The crowd would clap when need and would be quiet when needed. The orchestra would perform in a beautiful theater not outside on an open stage like a rock concert. A rock concert differs from that of a classical performs. The band usually has no order to way the play. They just kind of all walk on…

In high school, I remember where my biggest dream changed into a reality. I was a member of the Greenville High School Tiger Pride Marching Band. I played the alto saxophone. Unlike my bandmates, I did not know how to read music then. I played by ear, and whatever scale, jazz run, or chromatic I heard, I could play it back just like that. I played at numerous of black history programs and different events at school. My favorite saxophonist was Kenneth Williams, and I told myself that I want to…

The melody was clear and memorable. The audience reacted to the music at appropriate times, singing along if they knew the lyrics and applauding when each song was finished. During a particular song, “You make me feel like dancing”, about 4 couples got up to the front of the audience and danced their hearts out. I believe the general environment of the location in which this concert took place contributed to the vibe of the music. It took at Railroad Square because First Friday is a monthly…
