Livonia, MI. 48215 Dear Dr. Jeffress: The boxes that I have received from a former student were remarkable. I have looked through the boxes, and saw, many different artifacts from many origins. These artifacts could be of many important values to Science and Scientific studies. Searching through these boxes, I have found a labeled box that had…
Most people have heard the age old paradox of the chicken and the egg. Which came first? Every time you attempt to answer the question the opposite answer suddenly appears to be true. If you decide it is the egg then the obvious question follows, where did the egg come from? If you decide it is the chicken then you are forced to ignore that chickens hatch from eggs. In an article written for Spirit Magazine, Francine Prose points out that there is a logical and scientific answer to this paradox.…
The goal of the egg drop project was to successfully create a structure that would protect an egg from a drop of three stories high. The problem resulted as an eggshell would not be strong to protect itself from a fall at this height. In this project we created a structure from common household materials, that will protect an egg from a drop at three stories high. Together, we worked hard to create a structure that is both lightweight, durable, and hopefully indestructible. To create…
Results This experiment’s results revealed that the higher the temperature of vinegar that the egg was placed in, the less time it took for the eggshell to dissolve. A data trend showed that eggs in vinegar at a temperature of 62.8C took around twelve hours to completely dissolve their eggshell. Eggs set in vinegar at 24.5C took about sixteen hours to dissolve their eggshell and eggs in 1C vinegar took about twenty hours or more (Fig. 1, Fig. 2, Fig. 3). Figure 1. This line graph…
large brown eggs. We do not have any roosters, because we simply like to keep a solid supply of fresh egg is in our refrigerator and do not currently want any chicks. They both produce eggs, which my family enjoys in everything from scrambled eggs to mixing them into cake batter and making homemade waffles. The whole process is very interesting and that is why I chose to do my Science Fair project on egg production. I would like to see if different brands of feed produce better egg results in…
In the story ‘A Christmas Memory’, it gave you lots of things to picture in your head. The imagery used in this story is meant to give you the ability to see certain things, hear certain sounds, and be able to touch, taste, and smell certain articles. “Her face is remarked-not unlike Lincoln's, craggy like that, and tinted by sun and wind; but it is delicate too, finely boned, and her eyes are sherry-colored and timid.” That is an example of imagery. Being able to hear a certain sound in a story…
NFS386 Annotated Bibliography Alleoni A C. 2006. Albumen protein and functional properties of gelation and foaming. Scientia Agricola. 63(3)291-299. A review paper • Hen egg white protein coagulation orchestrates the success of many cooked foods, such as bread, cakes, cookies and other bakery products, as they act to link ingredients together. • The proteins depend on polymerization to make gel networks that allow for the incorporation, encapsulation and retaining of air that is important to…
on these items. The food item that caught my eye in the readings were eggs. As a vegetarian, eggs are an important part of my daily diet, but you would think if they were so important, I would know the difference between a Grade A egg and a Grade AA egg. How are these eggs rated? Why are these eggs rated? Who rates the eggs? These are all the types of questions that go through my head now when I’m trying to purchase a dozen eggs. Labels are important because they are required to tell the…
There are cultures all over the world that while they have contrasting beliefs, they have a similar story of a god in an egg which creates the world and universe within. These beliefs have been transferred through generations of hymns, chants, and written records. Similar cosmogonic traditions are almost parallel in China, Tahiti, India, Africa, Finland, Greece,. According to Sir Isaac Newton, “God is able to create Particles of Matter of several Sizes and Figures, and in several Proportions to…
debates about whether or not egg consumption is associated with the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, or carotid plaque area. Two studies have been conducted to address this issue. The first study used a non-experimental research design (longitudinal (cohort)) to examine the association between egg consumption and risk of CHD and stroke in men and women. The dependent variables in this study were the risk of CHD and stroke. The independent variables were egg consumption and…
