    Changing a tire is a skill that most people do not know how to do, but need to know how to do. This skill can be as easy as learning the alphabet. If a person takes the time, has the patience, and common sense; everything will run smoothly. Most people will face the dramatic problem of a flat tire. If a person ever does, he or she must make sure they identify the tire that needs changing, elevate the car, remove the tire with the proper tools, and get the spare tire. In order to change a flat tire, the first thing someone must do is identify the tire that needs changing. If the tire is fully deflated or has a “droopy” look, this is a sign that the tire is flat and needs to be changed. Remember, if a person gets a flat on the highway; make sure to turn on the hazard light. This is a button in a car with a reddish orange colored triangle on it. Pushing this button will make the brake lights flash and make the car visible to other cars so the driver will not hit anyone. The second step is to elevate the car. Now that the wheel that needs changing has been spotted, it is time to elevate the car. The best tool and object to use for this task is a jack and a block of wood, or a brick. These two objects will help a person elevate the car and eventually remove the tire. Place the block of wood or brick behind the left or right rear tire, depending on which side the flat tire is not on. This is needed so the car will not move while the car is being elevated.
