We have been building on this goal for exactly 91 days now and the students are so excited to finally get to meet Zero the Hero that they can barely contain themselves. Now to me, this is teaching. They are learning how to be lifelong learners and to love learning. I have had the amazing pleasure of receiving visits from past students moving on to higher education, future jobs, or actually seeing them out in the working community. They will not remember the names of some of their elementary teachers, ask me questions to spark their memory, but one memory is inevitably always brought up. “I remember when we got to celebrate the 100th day of school and meet Zero the Hero!” They are always excited to reminisce about the questions they asked and the pictures that they still have from the 100th day of school. Parents are equally excited about the events that we do that might possibly be thought of as “silly little traditions”. We have an amazing family at our school right now that had the opportunity to leave our school for a magnet school when their daughter was in my kindergarten. They turned it down because they loved the education she was getting and especially loved the excitement her daughter had for school. Her third child will be entering our school next year and she is so excited. She tells me how she talks to friends about how great our…

an array of addictions anywhere from porn, shopping, narcotics etc. I felt that attending this meeting would be a great opportunity to learn about other addictions and real life struggles that so many are plagued with. After all, A.A. speaks a lot of higher power and where higher power can be different for many; and often is in the A.A. meetings (God(s), self, Buddha, etc.), in the Restore…
