    A Big Surprise In 1914, there was a truce that most people who know about it will never forget. How come in this time of 2017 some people still can’t be equal with other religions, beliefs, or even just where their from and how they look. If we can’t accept it in 2017 how did the 2 sides in WW1 accept each other willingly even though they were enemies? Some people in our time just don’t understand that the person they hate hasn’t done a thing to them, but in WW1, 2 enemies had come together to celebrate Christmas. The world today is very different than compared to the past. Why do people even hate another race. You have to think about it because it sounds so silly even though it is a huge thing that had cost millions of lives over just a few races. In the early to mid December in 1914 it was a few months into the war between the British and German troops there was an impromptu truce that had occurred from a few days before Christmas and in some parts of both the lines until after boxing day (day after Christmas) and in other parts of the line it had lasted until early January. It was an unscheduled truce that had surprisingly lasted around a week. During this time carols were sung from both sides in the trenches, both lines got to repair some of their trenches and buried bodies of their fallen comrades, and even at some parts of the lines gifts of beer, pudding, and tobacco were exchanged and plus even a few unscheduled games of football.
