summer assignment in West Philadelphia, it was not difficult for me to blend in with the community. I came from a Corps similar to West Philly Corps; they are located in the heart of the urban community where gun shots bark like dogs' night and day. The people here are without a job, lots of single parents and abundances of poverty. I have never lived in such neighborhoods, but going to the Corps in my home town. I grow up seeing the distress of these people and the need for social service. I have also seen how the Corps, and the social service department were disconnected. The disconnection of the Corp and Social Service part of the Salvation Army was one of the things I could not understand for years. I recalled the founder William Booth says, Soap, Soup and Salvation, of which stand for serving the people and steer them toward salvation. Most of the clients who come to the Salvation Army social service for assistants don’t have the slightest idea that the Salvation Army is a church. The most interesting element beholds my eyes, here at West Philly, was the social service and the corps working together. I was given permission to sit in on some of the sessions with the clients when they come in for services. I observe the interaction between the social worker and the clients; it is one that only God could explain. The clients would go into the social worker office crying or upset, and they would come out smiling or at peace. On one of my sit in I heard…

An example of this is when Dr. Brennan presents him with solid facts about that case that point directly to the senator. It is not only Booth’s view of Dr. Brennan’s team as “squints,” but also his support for the United States and the discrimination he would receive for searching the senator’s house that clouds his judgement. After thinking through his actions and thinking about the victim, he realizes that it is his duty to find the criminal. This television series is not just about Dr.…

The moment that my father invested into a photo booth was the moment that I would begin to develop the skill of hard work. This skill would in time lead me to become a better person. Up until 2013, only occasionally would my guardian require my assistance with his work. I could either carry bags in or out of the house or support him in setting up. When my father bought a photo booth in 2013, that simple work that I did periodically would increase dramatically. I was not an experienced worker at…

I started watching NCIS when I was eleven or twelve, and since then I have strived to be more like Abby Sciuto. Abby is the definition of “never judge a book by it’s cover.” While she may seem scary and intimidating dressing in all black with several visible tattoos, she is the most down to earth, intelligent woman that I have ever seen on a television show. She is a forensic scientist who works at NCIS and her skills are vital to every single case they solve. She is well versed in forensic…

The revolt of the Northern Earls was caused by the gentry: Northumberland and Cumberland against William Cecil. In the same way, Pilgrimage of Grace had a subsidiary cause of faction. Henry’s divorce with Catherine of Aragon and disinheritance of Mary alarmed the Aragonist faction. This implied that they would lose power in court without Catherin or Mary on crown. Northumberland and Cumberland demanded the return of political power in the north and wealth as this would ensure a restoration of…

The reader’s first glimpse of how Heathcliff treats Catherine Linton is when he commands her to get the tea ready in a tone “uttered so savagely that I [Mr. Lockwood] started” (11). At this point in the story, the reader is not aware of Heathcliff’s diabolical nature, but it is made evident that he is a menacing character that will play a role in the theme of the story. When Heathcliff imprisons Catherine and Ellen in Wuthering Heights, Catherine’s bold behavior compels her to snatch the key…

tried to keep Heathcliff at the bottom and a rather detestable human being. Most notably at this was Hindley, who had never really took a liking to the strange gypsy child his father brought home after a long journey. After Mr. Earnshaw died Hindley began to put Heathcliff where he thought he belonged, down on the bottom with the servants. This action drove Heathcliff to be increasingly despondent and all in all a much ruder version of himself. An action that further drove Heathcliff to his rude…
