    actuaries receive an undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science or a business-related field such as finance, economics, or business. Actuaries should also have the ability to use a computer and be able to develop and use spreadsheets and databases, as well as standard statistical analysis software. Actuaries use computers every day to find solutions for the company. In addition, it is important that they have good interpersonal skills because they need to be able to communicate their finding to other people in the company (“Actuaries”). Ken received his degree in actuarial sciences from Purdue, graduating in 1992 After graduating college, the majority of students go on to find a job and are done with school. However, actuaries still have a series of 10 tests they have to take and pass. These tests include a lot of information like: math, statistics, probability, business, law, and insurance. The tests have information on just about everything an actuary would need to know and use in their everyday work life. Passing these tests is very hard, the passing rate 40%. This mean if 100 people take the test, 60 of them fail and 40 of them pass (“Williams”). Ken had a goal of passing all 10 of these test before he was 30 and he completed this goal, passing the last one when he was 29. Passing all ten tests earns an actuary the designation of Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society. It is the highest designation an actuary can receive.…
