It's 12:30 in the afternoon and I have just rolled out of bed. I made myself a veggie omelette with a side of turkey bacon and a cup of coffee. I make myself comfortable on my living room couch and turn on Netflix. As I sit there and contemplate about what to watch, I decide to take a trip to the 1970's and turn on "That '70s Show." "That '70s Show' is a television sitcom about a group of teenagers living in a suburban town in Wisconsin in the 1970's. In episode 18 of season one of the comedy…
Today, television is an incredibly large part of basic American culture, with many people’s lives revolving completely around the little screens, or sometimes large, that dominate nearly every single living room in the modern family’s home. But, in the late 1940s, when TV was first introduced, this wasn’t the case. Television has always been on a rollercoaster between fads, and new technologies introduced throughout the decades. But one of the overall most influential decades for the television…
In the late 20th and early 21st centuries television and movies have been controlled by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) everything we view is regulated in some way by the government. We had acts enforced, rules established and other types of regulations. The FCC is like the police for broadcasting it can fine broadcasters for violating anything that airs on television. The FCC has done this many times before for example an article from CNN.com posted in June, 2012 by Bill Mears…

Television as almost everything in life has had an evolution. The way we think of television is very different than the way our ancestors did. Television has been around since the late 1920’s. However, back in the day it was a very expensive luxury that only the elite could afford. With the passage of years television became more accessible and as a consequence more popular. In the 1950’s television was considered to be the primary medium in which many families gathered their information.…
Could you imagine not being able to listen to your favorite songs on the radio? Had the radio not been invented in the 1920s that would be the case. “The first commercial radio station in the U.S., Pittsburgh’s KDKA, hit the airwaves in 1920... By the end of the 1920s, there were radios in more than 12 million households” (“The Roaring Twenties”). In addition to the radios there was much more going on in the 20s. During the 1920s there was several things taking place such as Prohibition,…
John Mckenna spoke of how he became interested in music. Then mentioned being in a band and doing gigs. Then that leads to playing at the 2nd Clinton augral which ended up on TV which was watched by his mom who dissaprove of his music. Needless to say his mother is not like with him. That was a very cool story to hear. The closest I have come to that is my first paid camera running gig. Eve White-Brown ‘s story was about dealing with a problem with her voice. She said that she could have…
On Friday the 16th of October I went unplugged for 24 hours, and found it surprisingly uneventful. I had one minor slip up where I started looking at a phone because I was talking to a person who was getting the proper spelling for words off his phone. Other than that I did not notice a difference from my normal life. For the most part, I spend my time talking to people in person so that is what I did well unplugged. The biggest challenge was making sure I had my school work done before hand…
the party. With television the viewer is able to take image and base their vote of that instead of the candidate's actions. Television has made elections more accessible but has made the voter vote image over issues. Presidential elections through radio allows the voter to listen to the issues and actions that the candidate is addressing. With television the voter is…
