Using both Apatosaurus and Camarasaurus as their target subjects, they hypothesized a reconstruction of this same ligament structure along the spine, extending through the neck of these sauropods. They concluded that at least for Apatosaurus and Camarasaurus, the force of tension caused by this ligament structure would have proved efficient for a sauropod when tilting its neck downward. These ligaments would have remained taught with the neck and head being extended forward in a lateral position, slightly sloping downwards (Tsuihiji, T. 2004).
