Brass instrument

On October 16, 2015, I attended a concert called An American in Paris. The orchestra contained woodwinds, strings, percussion, and brass instruments. The concert began at 10:30 am and ended around 12:30 pm. Furthermore, it was located at Powell Symphony Hall. In ‘Respect’ there are many different musical lines that bring together the piece. In the intro of the song it is just the brass, guitar, and drums playing for four measures until Aretha Franklin starts singing. The back-up singers and the piano’s entrance is about a half of a beat after Aretha’s entrance. At this point all of the instruments are in full swing. The French horn has a brassier sound than a flugelhorn. The main visual difference between a flugelhorn and a French horn is the rounder shape of the latter instrument. A flugelhorn looks like a large trumpet; the french horn does not. Sound wise, however, the two instruments do share some similarities. It takes some extra study to figure out the differences.
