One main idea that can be seen in the four books we read and the movie that we watched, everyone is treated specific ways because of how they are different from the others around them. The way that people interact with others is based mostly on how different they are from them. Reading about how things use to be and being able to see how little has changed over time just confirms that we need to work together to change things for the better. Everyone knows how people will treat others different…
Rowling saved books from being outlawed. When J. K. Rowling was a kid she wrote everyday and night. So everyday the characters would talk to her. J.K. Rowling wrote such good books that most of the time the words came off the page. Everyone one loved her books. At the time she was writing the Harry Potter series. She was friends with every character. She started writing Harry Potter and The Cursed Child, but was stopped. She was stopped because the president of the USA was banning books…
Why aren’t there textbooks in the classrooms? In the years of 2011 to now school districts across the United States have embraced the transformation from textbooks to tablets. For example, schools like Burlington High School in Massachusetts have agreed to stop purchasing textbooks. They believe that students will be successful and learn the required material from kindergarten to twelfth grade. In order for students to be successful they need to have access to the material without the hardship…
Some parents and professionals characterized the younger generation's online reading habits as more time browsing, non-linear reading, and reading more selectively, while less time is spent on in-depth reading. In "Reading Literature Makes Us Smarter and Nicer", Annie Murphy Paul, a magazine journalist, argues that people who read literature are more likely to be empathetic and understanding other people's perspective. She claims that the younger generation is being cheated by their digital…
A white scalloped shelf in the corner for as long as I can remember holds all the books I’ve ever read. From books I learned to read with to the ones my mom has tried to get me to read for years. Over the past fourteen years my taste in books has evolved from Daisy Meadows fairy stories, to young adult books, to ones with more serious and realistic topics. Ever since I read my first Dr. Seuss book aloud in class, I have loved reading. I would spend hours in my room reading then march downstairs…
to work in a library (and serve as an Uber driver for my children), I have encountered many reluctant readers, especially boys, looking for something more challenging than the Magic Tree House series. They often stipulate, “It can’t be too big of a book and it can’t be boring.” I believe Charlie Malone and the Curse of the Pharaoh's Beard might fit that description. When Charlie Malone’s older sister, Kira, discovers his history project on ancient Egypt is due tomorrow, Charlie expects her to…

The book is about an artificial clone born from a cows womb. Matt the protagonist is the clone of the ruler and drug lord El Patron. The Story is about the struggle of being a clone and no one sees him for who he is, but what he is. This fiction book is very interesting, recommendable book, and there's no…
Within the past decade we have had lots of issues with people being offended. Now we are at the peak of that moment where we have to censor more things than ever because people find it offensive. That is not fair for the rest of us. There is an easy way of handling this than removing works of literature. You can chose to ignore it. That is the bottom right most easiest way to deal with things you don't like and here is why. When there is something someones doesn't like they want it to…
Textbooks are heavy and ipads have more technology but should they switch textbooks out for ipads? Although, people want ipads instead of textbooks I think they should not replace them. To begin with, schools already have chromebooks to use. “They live in the world where they have distractions where they have an ipad on their desk or a smartphone in their pocket “ said Dirk Delo. This shows that people have phones wherever they go. It also explains that how they need to use electronics for…
I was 12, it was raining. I leaned into the broad shoulders of my favorite armchair, and watched the raindrops race down the pane and onto the sill. My fingers absently traced the spine of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien; the book was my father’s copy, illustrated. Opening the book, the pages unfurled like an eagle taking flight. Fantastic images flew by as I scanned the interior. I took a few more moments to watch the raindrops, and then I turned to the beginning chapter “An Unexpected Party”.…
