    Dave Brubeck was born on the day December 6th, 1920. He was born in the city of and originally from Concord, California. His parents were Howard Brubeck and Elizabeth Brubeck. (Brubeck Institute). Dave Brubeck’s career as a jazz musician lasted for about sixty years. Dave Brubeck played the piano mostly during his career. Style wise, he refered very little to popular tunes. Dave Brubeck was very famous, if not the most famous jazz musician to live (Brubeck Institute). Dave Brubeck impacted the world of jazz heavily with his style of playing which used things like unusual meters and exotic sounds, with a few of his songs going on to be chart-toppers. While growing up on a farm, Brubeck was exposed to some music at a very early age. His mother played the piano at home and also gave lessons to others to try to make a little bit of extra cash (The Man). Around the time that Dave Brubeck was in grade one, his mother went to England to study forms of music such as classical music. His mother found it hard to be away from her husband and children for so long, so she came back home. She still planned on continuing her music career by teaching younger people to play the piano as mentioned before (The Man). At around the age of four, Dave Brubeck was receiving piano lessons from his mother. She was also teaching him home to compose and write compositions of his own.
