    staff of Kroger certainly had an “us versus them” mentality, one that, consequentially, extended to the floor staff. The manager himself was infamous for being generally unpleasant to be around, and thus, the employees had hardly anything to do with him. But, his edicts gradually passed through the hierarchy of Kroger, with the orders eventually being relayed to the grunts, such as myself. His decisions, such as having a meagre four-six baggers at even the busiest times of the week, dropped the ratings of his already poorly-rated store. He held a deep desire to pass inspections that arrived monthly, a test in which his Kroger had never passed since the conception of the store. His lust is comparable to that of the Governor’s to win the Blue Ribbon Prize Cup for Long Distance Cross Country Running (1208). The baggers are then split up amongst the various equally-understaffed departments of the store, all while being paid minimum wage and egregious hours for students, who were regarded with the utmost disdain. Perhaps some of my colleagues purposefully cleaned the store (a job in which was not officially entailed to baggers) inadequately to protect against creating happiness for our boss. While this hardly equates to standing up to armed police in protest, being a group of high schools in stable America, it was quite the undertaking. Certainly the peak of the protests, as well as the final act of rebellion, occurred during the opening weeks of senior year. The managerial…
