As the Titanic was built White Star Lines was under extreme financial duress as they were losing a lot in immigrant transportation, at the time everyone wanted to go to America; mostly poor immigrants looking to get a piece of the “American dream”. This was incredibly crucial to ocean liners as immigrants trying to leave their poverty stricken lives were a rather weighty chunk of funds; even the wealthy first class passengers paled in comparison to the several hundred immigrants in the third class holds. This is why many safety precautions were neglected in favor of a more speedy build. Metal is another story the fire is the main cause of it sinking. The first in a long line of evidence of this fire doing more than just keeping the boiler room men busy was found just weeks into 2017 in the attic of a small cottage in England. It was found in a cardboard box. Inside the box was a photo album with many pictures several of which had a peculiar detail that set them apart from all the rest. A black smudge can be seen on the starboard side of the ship which is not part of the paint on the ship it distinctly clashes with the sleek white and jet black liner colors that the White Star Lines would sport (Lewis).
