In the film Kinsey, directed by Bill Condon, Professor Alfred Kinsey uses science to explore and inform the public on sex during an era when sex was inappropriate to talk about. On the other hand, in the movie Thank You for Smoking, directed by Jason Reitman, lobbyist Nick Naylor defends and advocates the use of cigarettes in the country. Naylor and Kinsey both presents different ways of influencing their own audience. However, Naylor possesses the ability to overcome social media, and shows more logical and emotional appeal to his audience compared to Kinsey. Kinsey and Naylor both use logic in different ways; Kinsey uses logic to justify his selfish actions, while Naylor uses logic to disprove others. Kinsey conducts his own research on sexual behavior and uses his research to manipulate his wife. This is shown when Kinsey confesses that he had an affair with his coworker, Clyde. Kinsey’s wife asks “What if I had an affair with someone else?” Then Kinsey replies, “What if I wasn’t hurt?” (Kinsey). His research causes him to explore sexually with other people for science, and his sexual affairs with other men are acceptable because others are found to be homosexual. Kinsey logic causes him to abuse his right as a researcher to go out…

“California equal pay bill may be toughest in nation” (Masunaga 2015). This article was written by Samantha Masunaga and published in the Los Angeles Times. The Los Angeles Times has been in circulation for more than 130 years and has won over 40 Pulitzer prizes. The paper has been accused of having a liberal bias, but I do not feel that it has any bearing on this particular story. Samantha Masunaga attended UC Berkley Graduate School of Journalism. Prior to joining the staff at the Los Angeles…

Of course, Jack and Bill also have more investigations to do thanks to some information that has come to light regarding Mr. Gowen. I simply adore the pairing of these two--kind of like the dynamic duo of the Old West. One has to go by the books, and the other can be a little more creative in his interpretation of the law. Together, they are invincible as they solve whatever crime or perceived crime comes their way. As Bill, Jack is handsome, rugged and certainly committed to justice at any…

from someone who may be too far removed from the middle class way of life and its worries or someone whose suggestions are idealized snippets with little practical value. So, what to do when the refund arrives: Pay those Pesky Bills Most of us have them and if you don't, well then, you're already one step ahead, but many of us have at least one pesky bill. While their opinions are to be respected, to simply state it, there is a better option that exists. Some believe that this bill implies that the “First Amendment should be treated ‘not as a right but as a privilege’” (Sigmon 1). What is false about this belief is that all legislation can be deemed unconstitutional if it is. The lawmakers of America want to protect citizens while respecting the rights granted to them in the Constitution. It is part of their job to use the Constitution as a…
