These Bible study recommendations for young adults are for Bible study on a personal, individual level, not for a group. I have two reasons for choosing this level, the personal, individual level. The first is that I noticed that there is so much literature already on Bible study on a group level, either in Sunday school or in catechism classes or in other formal and informal groups, but there is so little on the personal, individual level. My second reason is that in my opinion there are more benefits to be derived from a Bible study on an individual level than on a group level. Very many who attend a group Bible study do not really develop their Christian life. They just go and grow with the group. At least this has been my personal experience,…

idea of inductive Bible study through his book Bible Study That Works. In his book, the readers are able to learn how to deepen their knowledge in the Bible and study the Bible thoroughly instead of simply studying about the Bible. This paper will discuss what I understand to be Thompsons basic view on Bible study, what I learned about effective Bible study that I did not know before, which aspect of effective Bible study will be most challenging for me, and will close with the current level of…

Infinitely imperative to contemporary Christian faith, Bible study “involves engaging the mind and focusing attention on Scripture in an attempt to understand and apply truth to every part of my life”. Only through Bible study can we learn about God and become more like Christ. Through the Bible itself God encourages us to “meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful” (Josh 1:8). Though emphasis on Bible…

The video, Doing the Right Thing group Bible study by Charles Colson, Brit Hume, reminded me how morally and spiritually bankrupt our society has become. Greed and corruption run rampant among our business, schools, government, homes, and sadly, even our schools. Pride and greed tend to work together in the lives of many people, leading to divorce, neglect, addictions, theft, and many other immoral actions. Chuck Colson gave an excellent explanation of self-righteousness when he stated,…

Once the introductions were made the group started the bible study with a prayer for those that are sick or need it most. Then we transitioned into studying Acts 4:1-34. One thing I found interesting is that they had this little paperback guide book called the Bible Studies for Life, which helped guide us though certain verses in Acts. After each Bible verse and a short explanation of the moral of the story, it asked reflection questions. We would then answer and discuss these questions in…

relationship with God is much the same. There are really just three major components to building a relationship with God: Prayer, Bible study and Church. #1- Prayer... Prayer is communication with God. Every relationship is built on communication. When relationships do not have good communication the relationship begins to deteriorate. So talking to God and learning to listen to God is important. Some people say, well I pray all the time. Great! But at least once a day set aside some time to…

People will low self esteem and lack of love are often very receptive to the gospel. However, the author mentions that one who is hostile is better than one who is a "yes, yes" man. Humans naturally want to be persuaded in some things and not in others. Another aspect of human character is that people tend to follow groups. Still further, praise encourages people to do well, whereas rebuke hardens them. The example was given that a car sales man wants you to test drive, and a retailer wants…
