    In light of the current election, many hurtful and narrow-minded things have been said about illegal immigrants and their families. The infamous statement that has been blurted from the mouth of America’s favorite clown, Donald Trump, says horrible things such as, “When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best…” Trump also talks about how, “They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists.” Statements like the one just mentioned have twisted the view that people have on illegal immigrants and their families. However, poems like Original Dreamers by Xico González and Dreamers by an unknown author have provided a unique and accurate insight into the lives of immigrants. Original Dreamers is a poem that describes the hardships, the struggles, and the sacrifices that many of these families have made in order to give their children a chance to fulfill their dreams. The poem that reveals what the children of the hardworking Original Dreamers is Dreamers. Dreamers paints the picture that no one has ever imagined, displaying how Dreamers have a hard time fitting in and how they work harder than anyone to achieve their dreams. While there are some differences between Dreamers and Original Dreamers, the reader can also identify the notable similarities between the two.
