    In February of 2004, Jonathan Jones wrote an article titled, “The joy of gore” and shares that after 1929 and release of the short film Un Chien Andalou, was the turn when society began to look at cinema differently (Jones web). In this film, we are the viewer have no time to brace for the shock and honor or seeing the eye sliced open and begin to ooze, it sparked a new desire of the unexpected. While at first this was traumatic to many, society as a whole wanted more. In the film Spellbound by Alfred Hitchcock, Dali was given liberty to create the dream sequence to add a twist and mystery to the film. The film Beetlejuice, is another excellent example of how we continue to see the odd and unexpectedness of surrealism in film. There are several odd scenes when things are twisted in meanings can be perceived differently. It is also during this film we notice the clothing designs that were popular for the time. Della Deetz, played by Catherine O’hara, wears several different designs but most memorable is the head wrap made of gloves. Again in 2004, societies love with surrealism continues, as seen in the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. This film focus on trying to erase the bad memories and times of your life and keep only the good and favorable ones.
