    Beauty and the Beast is one of the most well-known Disney movies in history. With the main protagonists being a beautiful girl and an ugly beast, the storyline is truly one that anyone of any age can enjoy. But this story is not a simple love story, there is a deeper meaning to the movie than what we think. The beginning of the movie starts off with a song called “Little Town”. Belle, one of the main protagonists, is singing along with the rest of the town. The song does not seem like much, but when you listen closely to the lyrics, there is an underlying message. Everyone in the town judges Belle as she walks around the town reading a book. She is known for being a bookworm and to most of us, that would seem common in our society. However, reading a book is not a hobby that is socially acceptable in the time-frame that coincides with the movie. A rich-looking women sipping a cup of tea states, “Never part of any crowd,” and a barber follows her by saying, “Because her head’s up on some cloud.” They are implying that it is not okay for a woman to not be around any company; we cannot enjoy being alone.
