Upon the discovery, the Canadian Pacific Railway recognized the vast tourism potential and saw a future for the development of tourism in Banff. Therefore, Canada established a federal reserve around the hot springs, which would begin the process of its formation as an international resort and spa; the beginning of Banff’s tourism. Going by the name of Rocky Mountain National Park until around 1960, Banff National Park is a natural park, filled with history and excitement.
