Do you know what a catapult is and how it operates? A catapult is a device or technology that helps planes take off the USS Midway when the planes carry a lot of weight like fuel and weapons. Catapult on an aircraft carrier works on steam power. Catapults were chosen on aircraft carrier because they are capable of carrying a lot of weight on a takeoff. The aircraft weight is confirmed by the weight Board Operator. Catapult technology affected the Uss Midway ship because it helps planes take off faster when they carry heavy weight. On the USS Midway they used Steam power on the catapults. The steam is produced by a boiler that is stored in an accumulator below the ship’s deck.
