Me: “Good morning, dear! How are you this morning?” Friend: “Good morning, darling, I am good. You said you wanted to go out for coffee this morning with me and discuss something. What’s up?” Me: “I have been doing a lot of pondering on a documentary that I watched last night. It really got me thinking about rituals that cultures have in other countries as well as ones we have in America.” Friend: “Oh, really? I never gave much thought to that subject, but it sounds like a good topic to discuss on this rainy day. What was the name of the documentary that you watched?” Me: “It is called, The Story of the Weeping Camel. The setting is in the Gobi Desert, with the focus on a group of Mongolian Nomads. The climate in this country appeared to be cold with quite a few strong windstorms, due to the flatness of the landscape. The attire of the nomads was long, coats with hats to cover their ears. The time of this documentary was during the birthing season of the camels.” Friend: “Oh, that does sound interesting to watch. You mentioned earlier about some rituals that this culture practices. I would love to hear what they are and how you interpreted them.” Me: “Well, the first ritual I noticed was the sprinkling of milk in all directions. Early in the morning the elderly woman boiled some milk with seasonings and put it into a small tin. She then took it outside their tent and threw some in all directions. After that procedure she said a short chant or prayer.” Friend: “Perhaps it…

T.T.M Kannan et al. [2014] performed the experiment on AISI 316 Austenite stainless steel to investigate the heat partition, tool wear and tool life. In their investigation they found that CBN cutting inserts has been damaged in moderate cutting velocity and produce good machinability and higher cutting temperature decreases the yield strength of produced white layer. [11] R.Suresh et al. [2014] studied the effect of various cutting parameters in hard turning of AISI H13 steel at 55 HRC with…

exhibited satisfactory wear resistance. Tungsten carbide is an advanced ceramic material combining a unique set of properties such as high hardness, high melting point, wear resistance, good thermal shock resistance, thermal conductivity and good resistance against oxidation. They can be applied as coatings by thermal spraying processes such as plasma-spraying, high-velocity oxy-fuel spraying and detonation gun methods [1]. Bell and Sun (2002) discussed that a low temperature plasma carburizing…

present at a certain temperature and also its corresponding composition, determined by Gibbs Phase and Lever Rule. This enables the effectiveness and accuracy of certain processes such as precipitation hardening and solid solution strengthening which involves heavily on the change of phase. Besides that, phase diagrams are also used in heat treatment. This is because the phase diagram clearly shows what type of solution is formed at a specific temperature and composition. It helps the…

deformation was made at temperatures above re-crystallization temperature (950-980oC), followed by quenching and high tempering. The high-temperature thermo-mechanic treatment applied to the HS2-9-1-8 high-speed steel, occurred in this way: - heating at 1200-1230oC; - plastic deformation through hammer forging with deformation degrees range between 50-70% up to temperature 1000-980oC; the applied deformation degree being high, for some samples there was necessary to stop the plastic…
