Rialto Bridge is located in Venice,a small island-like city off the coast of the Po Valley, in northeast Italy over the Grand Canal. In Venice, there are no major roadways. Instead, there are canals, or waterways that act as major roads. The Rialto Bridge was constructed by architect Antonio da Ponte, whose name means Antonio of the Bridge, curiously enough. Construction began in 1588 and ended in 1591. This bridge is made out of a white stone and is an arch bridge. The Rialto Bridge is a covered bridge and has twenty-four arches of stone for windows.
