He had a career as an author, since his family was involved and acclaimed in the book world. However, Goeth’s path changed when he joined a Nazi youth group at the age of 17. When Goeth was 22 in 1930, he joined the Austrian Nazi Party. That same year, he became affiliated with the Security Police, the Schutzstaffel (SS). Goeth also encountered two marriages.
