The Reconquista inspired the creation of the Catholic State with Catholic rulers. A Catholic Spanish state was created after the Moors were driven out and the Jews were banished from Spain. The Spanish Crown wanted to purify Spain in order to create a Catholic state with Catholic values. In order to build a Catholic state, the Spanish crown had to get rid of another religion and banish any citizen that was not a true Catholic or who practices a different faith in secrecy. This is why, the…

My partner for my interview was Ruben Gonzalez. I thought that doing this interview was very helpful. It was cool to see how a different culture works, and their ideas on all kinds of perspectives of the world. I asked him questions that went along with all the dimensions of culture. I started off the interview by asking him what his ethnicity is. He is 75% Puerto Rican, and 25% EL Salvadorian. His Father is half El Salvadorian, and half Puerto Rican, and his Mother is full Puerto Rican. He…
My initial reaction to the poem Mexican is Not a Noun by Francisco X. Alarcón was that it was a bit confusing and vague. It really doesn't make much sense, but in order to understand it you have to read out side the words and really think about it. However, I was able to take from it that Alarcon feels that being Mexican is not easy and a lifelong struggle. Alarcón begins the poem by putting the word Mexican in quotations to imply that he does not agree with the general use of the term. He says…

Later in the 1960s Bossa Nova became a international trend. Then…

Sir Francis Drake is guilty of voluntary manslaughter. This comes in play with the Spanish Armada. Voluntary manslaughter is where you kill someone and plan doing it. Drake planned on killing the Spanish Armada because Queen Elizabeth told him they were preparing to kill her. The queen never said to kill them, she told Drake to stop them. She never threatened or forced him to do this act. The only orders the queen had were to return in six months. Drake sailed to England with his crew. One…
