The Allegory of the Maple Syrup April 12, 2010 at 6:53am Throughout His ministry, Christ used stories and metaphor to teach the people the gospel. On the surface, the stories are just that-- stories. Some were allegories. An allegory is a Greek word. It means a figurative story full of meaning and metaphor, where each thing in the story represents something else. If you look deeper into the meanings and symbols, bright truths can be learned. No matter what level a person is on, we can all gain light from the Savior's teachings. In 1 Nephi 19:23 Nephi tells us: "And I did read many things unto them which were written in the abooks of Moses; but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet bIsaiah; for I did cliken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our dprofit and learning. " The thing is, you have to actually READ the scriptures to gain anything out of them. We can't just carry them around hoping that poof, we'll have a testimony. With the gospel, we can't at the last minute cram for the final exam... Like some of my seminary students are trying to do. In Isaiah 28: 9-10 we read: Whom shall he teach aknowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are bweaned from the cmilk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, aprecept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little: In Acts 17, Paul expounds…

It is typically comprised of only those species that have high tolerance to flooding, such as the bald cypress (Taxodium dystichum). Zone III receives less water…

overtopped, under the right circumstances black cherry is a very successful grower. Competition from neighboring trees has been shown to be a directly related to a decrease in diameter size of black cherry. (European Journal of Forest Research 129 p. 367-375) Seed dispersal relies primarily on the seeds that fall from the trees already present. Animals also distribute seed and under certain circumstances these seeds can result in successful black cherry stands. This means of distribution can be…
