    History of Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy (AAS) was first proposed by Alan Walsh, later known as Sir Alan in 1955. Sir Alan worked in Melbourne for the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (C.S.I.R.O.).
