The journey began at Aberdeen railway station at seven fifty two A.M. on a grim, murky, and wet Saturday. I boarded the train for York, a pungent odour of fried food engulfed my senses. It made me feel nauseous, great start ! I wished I was back home with all it's familiarity and the delicious smell of my mum’s highly scented candles. Eventually later that day I arrived in Grimsby, I thought the day could not get any worse; I was confronted by the same bleak and grey weather i had left behind in Aberdeen. The town seemed desolate and wretched, a few old people trudged out of the station looking miserable. There was barely a soul in the small old fishing town where this new life experience was too begin. However I gathered up my luggage and tried extremely…

    179. Christopher is going to run away from home, but he is really confused on where at first. He originally thought Mrs. Shears, but she didn 't answer. That idea also makes no sense because Christopher 's dad would not be that far away. He eventually deduces that his best option is to find his mother in London. I just don 't understand how his logic with people can be so skewed. There is no reason to believe that Mr. Boone would try to kill Christopher. I also don 't understand his decision of…

It was last summer. While browsing on the Wechat, I was captivated by a story. This story begins like that a couple broke up at the airport. The girl said: “every day I am waiting for you. It’s just exhausted. At first I thought you would come back if I just wait for one more minute, but now I know there’s no point to waiting for you any more, because just like you could never get on a train in an airport, I could never expect the wrong person on the wrong place in a wrong time.” On that day…

Regarding this, I find myself at the first stop of the Blue Line railway system, the 7th and Metro Station in Downtown Los Angeles on a Tuesday morning. This station is underground and is a regional connector to other rail lines and buses. People are constantly on the move and vary in ethnicity (White, African American, Latino, Asian) and age (elderly, middle-aged). People dressed in professional attire or uniform roam the station while other passengers are in casual attire. Law enforcement is…

Being raised in a strict four person family, I have always been told what to do, what not to do, and to not stray from the right path. “Focus on your future, Bethany,” my mom would always tell me, and so I did. Focusing constantly on grades and schoolwork, I dared myself to make time for a social life, and instead, I became quiet and shy. I remained shy to the public for years until one traumatic day during my seventh grade year. This particular experience single handedly changed my future by…

The movie Fruitvale Station is a strong movie that emphasizes the struggle of the poor-minority community, shows the prejudice that the police in our everyday society have, and walks through the life of Oscar Grant III, 24 hours before his murder. The ethnophaulism that is used is both derogatory and uncalled for; As well, the prejudice that someone encounters on a daily basis is unbelievably sad. The struggles of minority people in the United States often disregarded, and the outcome of hate…

Within novels, the incorporation of morals or events introduced in the initial sections throughout the remainder of the book is a common occurrence. This is evidenced within the pages of The Five People You Meet in Heaven, where the protagonist, Eddie, encounters Joseph Corvelzchik, often referred to as “The Blue Man”, who informs him of the interconnected nature of life, and how the notion of random acts is entirely inaccurate within the forty-eight page of the novel, where he states, “That…
