    As of 2013 more than eighty six percent of adults say they already have children, are planning to have children, or wish to have children yet one in every four couples suffer from infertility. Infertility may be due to a single cause in either you or your partner’s reproductive system, or a combination of both that may prevent pregnancy from occurring. Fortunately there are many therapies and treatments for overcoming infertility. One of the most controversial solutions is Surrogacy. Now for those whom don’t know what surrogacy is, the direct definition of the word surrogate is “A person appointed to act for another”. But we define it as someone (women) carrying a child thru a full three trimesters of pregnancy and giving birth for another person who is unable to do so themselves. On average the entire process of becoming and being a surrogate takes about fourteen to eighteen months to complete. You begin with applying by giving basic information and a little bit about your background, then if all goes well and you are approved you begin the next step. You are assigned a Surrogate ID where you are then put into a data base that is strictly protected and only given to Intended parents to view and make a decision on who will be carrying their baby for the next nine months. From here it really is just a waiting game and depending on how long it takes for a couple to choose you it could be one to four weeks.
